it is interesting the dichotomy here— thaddeus expressing how tainted the wasteland is, that there aren’t any good people, he’s never seen any, and he’s seen a lot of things. and maximus goes “that girl i met” 🥹 like someone mentioned here, yeah, he’s still thinking of her even when she’s not there and influencing his thoughts and actions. lucy’s influence can not be overstated. there is goodness is a dark world. he’s seen it. he probably wants that too. yet what’s even more realistic about this scene is thaddeus goes on to say “i would be a good person too if i grew up in some cozy little impenetrable home. wouldn’t have to steal, and stab, and fib all the goddamn time just to get by” like how heartbreaking is that? how many people in the wasteland wish they were good but could never be because goodness and clean hands are but a privilege? i’m not sad at all
